2010 Events And Program Activities

Wednesday and Sunday Open Sails
– open to all DSC members, Crew level or above

In conjunction with the general Open Sails every Wednesday and selected Sundays (see DSC calendar for dates), the Cruisers will be sailed subject to the availability of cruising skippers. If you are interested in crewing on a cruiser, notify the Dockmaster when you arrive for the Open Sail.

Full Moon Sails
– open to Cruising Crew Members who sign up for the event

Scheduled to coincide with the full moon, these events are an opportunity to do some night sailing. Full Moon sails leave the docks at approximately 7:30 and may return as late as 10:00 to 11:00. Sign up for the Full Moon Sails here. You will be contacted by the event coordinator as to boat assignment and time to meet on the dock for departure (times vary due to daylight). Dates as follows:

Cruiser Sundays
– open to Cruising Crew Members who sign up for the event

A full day of sailing from 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM with lunch underway. Sign up for these events here. You will be contacted by the event coordinator as to boat assignment and other pertinent information. Dates as follows:

  • Sunday, June 20, 2010
  • Sunday, July 18, 2010
  • Sunday August 15, 2010
  • Sunday, September 12, 2010
  • Sunday, October 10, 2010

Raft-ups
– open to Cruising Crew Members who sign up for the event

The highlight of the cruising season, these popular events are an opportunity to get some real cruising experience. Scheduled approximately one per month throughout the season, these events are overnight cruises to a coordinated destination where many of the DSC cruisers and other privately-owned boats rendezvous, and either anchor or dock together. Register for these events here. You will be contacted by the event coordinator as to boat assignment and other pertinent information. Dates and destinations as follows:

  • Saturday/Sunday, May 29-30, 2010 - Spring Flower Cruise – Magothy River/Gibson Island
  • Thursday/Sunday, June 24-27, 2010 – Summer Solstice Cruise - This is either a 2 or 4 day cruise. You may choose which event you are able to attend. Some boats will depart on Thursday and others on Saturday – Annapolis Harbor, St. Michaels, (4 day) Mill Creek/Whitehall Bay (both 4 & 2 day)
  • Saturday/Sunday July 31-August 1, 2010 - Pirates Cruise – Lovely Cove/Langford Creek- East Fork of the Chester River
  • Saturday/Sunday August 28-29, 2010 – Fun on the Beach Cruise – Fairlee Creek/Mears Great Oak Landing
  • Saturday/Sunday September 25-26, 2010 – Fall Cruise Combined with Newbie Cruise– Rock Hall-Sailing Emporium
  • Thursday/Saturday September 30 - Oct 3, 2010 – Oktoberfest Cruise - This is either a 2 or 4 day cruise. You may choose which event you are able to attend. Some boats will depart on Thursday and others on Saturday – Worton Creek, Sassafras River (4 day), Worton Creek (both 4 & 2 day)
  • Saturday/Sunday November 6-7, 2010 – Somewhere warm!

Newbie Overnight Cruises
– open to all DSC members with a $25.00 charge

Two “newbie” cruises will be offered for any DSC member who might be interested in learning about the cruising program. If after they take part in the cruise and decide to become a Cruising Crew Member their $25.00 fee is applicable to the $50.00 Cruising Crew Member fee. Sign up for these events here. You will be contacted by the event coordinator as to boat assignment and other pertinent information. Dates and destinations as follows:

  • Saturday/Sunday June 12-13, 2010 - Spring Newbie Cruise – Rock Creek/White Rocks
  • Saturday/Sunday September 25-26, 2010 - Rock Hall/Sailing Emporium Marina

 

PLEASE NOTE

You must register for all cruising events other than the Sunday and Wednesday open sails which are open to all members on a first come first serve basis after checking in with the Dockmaster. The number of registrants for all other events will be based on the number of cruisers planning on participating in the events. Again this is based on skipper availability. Early registrants will have priority. It is our sincere desire to be able to accommodate all those who will want to attend at least one of the above events, however it is not guaranteed.
